Terms
Short and plain, like the rest of this site. Using OakGavel means you accept them.
What OakGavel is
A marketplace where you list and buy domains. Payments settle in a public smart contract on Base (CicloEscrow). We are not a bank, an exchange or a payment processor, and we never hold your keys.
The contract is not audited
It has tests, but a test is not an audit. A bug could lose the money in your deal, or all the money in the contract at that moment. Deals are capped at 1,000 USDC per deal to limit what one deal puts at risk; the cap does not make the contract safe.
No guarantee, no insurance, no reimbursement
The site and the contract are provided as they are. If money is lost to a bug, a mistake or a decision made under these rules, OakGavel does not pay it back.
What can cost you money
- If the buyer does not confirm or dispute before the review period ends, anyone can release the payment to the seller, whether or not the domain arrived.
- If a dispute is not decided in time, it closes by itself: 50/50, or all to the seller if it was opened after the review period.
- Arbiter decisions execute on the blockchain and cannot be undone, by us or anyone.
- USDC sent on another network, or sent straight to the contract address instead of through the Pay button, is lost.
- Circle, the issuer of USDC, can freeze USDC, including USDC held by the contract.
- Your wallet, your seed phrase and the gas fees are yours to handle.
The arbiter
OakGavel acts as the arbiter in disputes. The arbiter can only split a deal's money between its buyer and its seller, never send it anywhere else.
Your part
Only list domains you own and can transfer. Follow the laws and pay the taxes that apply where you live.
Liability
As far as the law where you live allows, OakGavel is not liable for losses from using the site or the contract. Where the law does not allow a limit, this paragraph does not apply.
Changes
We may update these terms. Deals already open keep the terms they started with.
